Get Ready for Spring RC flying!

0

This has been a long cold winter for sure!  For us RC guys that have been itching to get back behind the sticks, in many parts of the country there have been very few opportunities to do that lately.  Of course there are definitely the simulator alternatives which at least help us to remain in practice, but there is just nothing like "real" physics of flying a real RC plane.  So for most of us we feel it is certainly time to get ready for spring rc flying!

I have many RC projects that I have coming into my mind that I want to detail for you guys here and get your thoughts on.  For one, I am trying to continue to get better with my 3d flying, so I am always looking at mods and things I want to change about the two 3d planes I have - the Techone Venus and the Dynam Sbach 342.  Both have served me well for now.  However, I can tell as my skills improve, I want the plane to respond faster and move better along with me.  So, I will keep you guys posted, but I think I am going to start tweaking on those planes a little and experimenting.

Also, I have an idea for a crazy fast new "monster hawk" as I affectionately named the first rendition.  I am planning on making the next iteration twice as powerful and a few other tweaks to hopefully get this parkflyer in the 150 MPH range!  Or at least that is my plan anyway 🙂

Also, there are also quadcopters to think about.  I actually don't own any quads besides my little Proto X which a friend gave to me.  However, it did open my eyes to the fun of flying multirotors for sure.  I have always for the most part been a plane guy.  However, I think the multirotor platforms have bridged the gap from planes to helis and appeal to many who may be intimidated by traditional helis and feel comfortable with planes.  I plan on building or buying a good 350 class or so multirotor this summer and will keep you guys posted on those projects here.

I feel like it is going to be a very fun year of flying once the warmer weather is here to stay.  At least spring is officially tomorrow....yeah!  The birds start chirping, nitro starts burnin' and electrons are flowing through our LiPos and that is a sweet time.

How about you guys?  What crazy wild projects are you guys planning for this year of RC flying?  I would definitely like to know what you all are into this year.  Leave your comments below on your projects and ideas.  I learn best from you guys on the net and fellow fliers so that is what it is all about.
