Review of the GM8908 Anemometer for RC Flying

0

Since getting into the RC hobby, I have been wanting to get a good anemometer to measure wind speed at the flying field to know exactly what kind of conditions that I am flying in.  There are tons of consumer anemometers that can be bought online.  I have been keeping my eye out for one that is easy on the pocket book, small, and accurate.  Recently, in visiting Amazon.com there was a little anemometer that caught my eye that I decided to get.  It is the GM8908 LCD Digital Wind Speed Temperature Measure Gauge Anemometer.  The last check I made at Amazon it can be had for $12.00.  I purchased the unit last week and just received it a couple of days ago.

This little unit does everything I want it to do.  While it may not have all the bells and whistles of much more expensive units, it measures the wind and accurately.  The LCD backlight looks really nice and the feel of the unit does not match its cheap price.  According to the specs the resolution is good and it measures wind speed all the way up to 65 mph, so you can certainly measure speeds of just about any windy day that you would want to be standing out in a field flying!

A few things I really like:

  • Small
  • Well built
  • Accurate
  • Good resolution
  • Reads wind speeds up to 65 mph

  • As you can see, the unit is not that large.  I don't have the largest hands in the world, but as you can see it is small enough to fit in a pocket.

  • I really like the backlight of the display.  It looks really nice and doesn't have the cheap lighting of some other units I have seen.
