Wild Scorpion 2200mAh 11.1v LiPo Battery Review

0

All of us RC guys and gals look for good products for cheap since well most of us are on a budget of some sort.  When i saw the Wild Scorpion 2200mAh LiPos for sale at Grayson Hobby a while back for $14.99 I was a little skeptical of the quality of these batteries and I couldn't find a whole lot of information on this brand on the net, but I decided to pull the trigger on 3 of these batteries to test out in a few planes.  I have to say that I have been impressed with these batteries.  Build quality looks to be on par with other batteries that I have used and the performance has been very nice as well.

Charging

So far, I have been using these batteries for a couple of months now and haven't had any major issues charging them.  I do want to mention that I have one battery that will never balance charge.  My charger will sit and charge and charge and charge and finally hits the charge time limit for the balance charger.  I have to say that I haven't experienced any other issues charging that particular battery.  Performance of the cells on this unit seems to be on par with the other two batteries that I had ordered.  The other two batteries balance charge, and regular charge without any issues.

Performance

I have been particularly impressed with the performance of these batteries.  They definitely have that punchy feel that we like to "feel" in our planes with a LiPo.  I have not always experienced this will all LiPo brands.  The Scorpion batteries certainly perform on par with my other favorite batteries.  The battery life of these batteries also has performed very well and I haven't seen any drops in performance over the past few weeks on these batteries and haven't seen any other degradation to note in this post.

Price

The price of these batteries from Grayson is $14.99.  You can pick up these batteries at Grayson here:

Conclusion

I personally have been very satisfied with my purchase of the Wild Scorpion batteries.  Again, I didn't find a lot of feedback either way on the net before my purchase, but going out on a limb I decided to snag a few of these and have been happy with them.   I feel they are certainly worth the price based on my quality, charging, and performance expectations and will consider buying more of these batteries to power my planes in the future.
